About the University of Évora
The University of Évora was the second university to be founded in Portugal, in 1559, after an intention from King D. João III and order of Cardinal D. Henrique.
Its cradle was Colégio do Espírito Santo, whose building is still the core of the University, and a landmark of the city, with historical and architectural values of immeasurable beauty. The University comprises several other historical buildings scattered through the city, which can be identified by the symbol of a dove in a marble circle.”
